Happy Mother’s Day!
Mothers are the sweetest gift from Gods to us.
There is no way we can ever really thank our mother for all she does for us nevertheless we must make it a habit to keep reminding ourselves of the various sacrifices she made while raising us.
Mothers’ Day is the best time to say in words how much you love and care for your mum.
Make your Mother’s Day bright by buying her a beautiful bottle of Candoni Moscato or Prosecco and toasting to her with a great big hug and a great big kiss.

10 Good Reasons to Drink Organic…
Candoni Cares for the Future of our Planet:
10 Good Reasons to Drink and Eat Organic…
1. Protect Future Generations: Less exposure to cancer-causing pesticides.
2. Prevent Soil Erosion: Organic growers must consider crop residue
management, maintenance of water application and drainage systems.
Achieving control over any erosion potential is a prerequisite for
certification.
3. Protect Water Quality: Pesticides contaminate life-sustaining water
4. Save Energy: Organic farming is based on labor intensive pratices such
as hand weeding
5. Keep Chemicals Off Your Plate: Many pesticides approved for use were
registered long before extensive research linking these chemicals to
cancer
6. Protect Farm Workers: Farmers exposed to herbicides have six times
more risk than nonfarmers of contracting cancer.
7. Help Small Farmers: Although more large-scale farms are making the
conversion to organic practices, most organic farms are small family
owned farms. Organic farming could be one of the few survival tactics
left for family farms.
8. Support a True Economy: Conventional food prices do not reflect the
hidden costs of subsidies borne by society, including pesticide regulation
and testing, hazardous waste disposal and clean up, environmental
damage, sickness and so on…
9. Promote Bio-diversity: Mono cropping has left the soil lacking in minerals and nutrients, which were replaced
by chemical fertilizers. Single crops are more susceptible to pests, making farmers more reliant on pesticides.
Insects had become genetically resistant to certain pesticides causing doubled crop losses.
10. They Taste Different: Organic farming starts with the nourishment of the soil, leading to the nourishment of
the plant, our taste buds, and us… it is like something remembered from childhood.

Candoni Wines are Excellent
September 18, 2011 at 7:47 pm
Barbara Candoni de Zan and her sister Caterina, the Operators of Candoni Winery in Italy, were in Mi Piaci on Tuesday night for a Market Blitz of their incredible portfolio. They were seated with several executives from Republic National Distribution Company. It validated my belief that their wines are some of the best value out of Italy year in and out.
Mi Piaci carries their Moscato d’ Asti, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chianti Classico. They also produce a wonderful Pinot Grigio, Prosecco and several organic wines. They have a unique and beautiful packaging to their wine bottles. All the bottles are hand painted with beautiful Etruscan designs. You might recognize them from the wine shop. Go out there or come to Mi Piaci, try these wines, and email me back your thoughts. Please support family businesses like Candoni. Check out their web site www.candoniwines.com
I think you will really enjoy these wines. Salute!

Candoni Races at the DAKAR Rally!!
“A challenge for those who go. A dream for those who stay behind.”- DAKAR founder, Thierry Sabine
Candoni Wines is a proud sponsor of the DAKAR Rally, a fourteen-day international off-road race. Founded in 1978, the route originally started in Paris and ended in Dakar. Since 2008, the race has moved to the deserts of Peru, Chile and Argentina. This year, 465 drivers will begin the rally in Lima, Peru and will end in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Both professional and amateur racers enter the competition, driving motorcycles, quad bikes, cars or trucks. Each stage (day) varies from 500-560 miles per day, amounting to over 7,000 miles total over fourteen days. The challenge attracts competitors of more than fifty nationalities, who are watched on television by over a billion viewers in 190 countries.
The terrain these drivers cross is very intense and diverse, ranging from dunes, mud, rocks and grass. Candoni’s Italian driver, Marco Zucchi, drives a Mitsubishi Pajero; the most successful race model in history, winning seven straight years from 2001-2007.
The rally organizers have an affinity for protecting the environment in which the race takes place. They constantly seek out means to reduce its impact on the environment and to preserve the heritage of the countries that it crosses. The Dakar offsets all of its direct emissions by supporting the Madre de Dios societal and environmental project, which leads the fight in the deforestation of the Peruvian part of the Amazon region. The Madre de Dios project has been able to save almost 120,000 hectares of forest, which would have been destroyed over the course of the next ten years.
At the end of the 2012 Rally, the organizers will identify relevant areas of improvement so that each year the race will be more irreproachable with regards to environmental issues.
Candoni Wines is proud to support an internationally renowned rally race that takes strides to sustain and improve its surrounding environment. Cheers to Candoni’s driver, Marco Zucchi, and good luck to the other DAKAR participants!!
8 Ways to Start off 2012 on the Right Glass!!
Happy Holidays
Happy holiday from Candoni Wines!

Thanksgiving!
As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, we began to reminisce about our first time celebrating the holiday in America. A few years ago, we were gratiously invited by our dear friends, the Edwards family, to partake in their Thanksgiving celebration. We were reminded of our own family celebrations when we entered the home of the Edwards family: the warmth of the fireplace, the delicious smells from the kitchen, and the overall feeling of companionship. We loved the similar characteristics of Thanksgiving to those of a typical Italian gathering; family members come from far and wide to visit with one another over a homemade meal, always filling the room with laughter and joy.
Everything we ate during the Thanksgiving meal was absolutely delicious! However, our favorite item on the menu was the Country Cornbread Dressing. We all had seconds and we were so stuffed after!! Mrs. Edwards kindly gave us the recipe, and we wanted to share it with you all!
Country Cornbread Dressing
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup or 1 stick butter
1 pan corn bread crumbled or 1/2 pan crumbled corn bread (3 cups) and (3 cups) crumbled biscuits
1 13oz. can chicken broth
2 beaten eggs (add extra egg if needed)
2 tsp. poultry seasoning
Heat oven to 350°F
Sauté celery and onion in margarine
Combine remaining ingredients. Toss lightly until throughly moistened.
Pour into a 8″ square or 1 1/2 quart casserole
Bake 40-45 minutes.
We brought along our Pinot Noir and it paired PERFECTLY with the stuffing! Enjoy this recipe with your family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
